Goodwill Gives Backpacks to CT Kids

Goodwill of Western & Northern Connecticut Kicks Off ‘2023 Backpack Giveback’ at Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford’s Asylum Hill Campus

Nonprofit receives 500 backpacks, with 30-piece school supply kits, to support students 

Hartford, Conn. (August 9, 2023) – Goodwill of Western and Northern Connecticut (GWNC) visited the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford’s Asylum Hill Campus to help Hartford youth kickoff the 2023-2024 school year. As part of their visit, the GWNC team distributed more than 100 backpacks to summer camp participants as part of a donation to the Clubs that includes 500 backpacks with 30-piece school supply kits.

“Goodwill believes that education is essential for future employment opportunities”, Heather Marquis, VP of Human Services, Goodwill of Western and Northern Connecticut, said. “Our ‘Backpack Giveback’ is designed to help students kick off the school year on a positive note and we are proud to have the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford as one of this year’s benefactors.”


Goodwill of Western and Northern Connecticut will distribute more than 2,000 backpacks to K-6 students across its service territories as part of the ‘2023 Backpack Giveback.’ Additional distributions will benefit students in Bridgeport and Hartford, among other communities.
