Local Hunger Relief
BRIDGEPORT, CT – October 24, 2025 – Goodwill of Western and Northern Connecticut (GWNC) is proud to announce a donation of $14,881 to the Bridgeport Rescue Mission, funds raised through its round-up at the register program. The generous contribution will directly support the efforts to provide more than 3,800 meals in the greater Bridgeport area.
The donation was made possible by thousands of compassionate customers who chose to round up their purchases to the nearest dollar at 20 GWNC retail locations. Over two weeks in September, these small acts of generosity have resulted in a significant impact for families and individuals struggling with hunger in the community.
"We are deeply grateful to our customers whose small change has made such a big difference," said Heather Marquis, CEO of Goodwill of Western and Northern Connecticut. "This donation reflects the power of community coming together to support our neighbors in need, and we're honored to partner with the Bridgeport Rescue Mission in their vital work."
The Bridgeport Rescue Mission works to expand hope and transform lives by providing hot meals, groceries, healthcare and residential support services to those who are experiencing homelessness, hopelessness or struggle with substance abuse.
"This incredible gift from Goodwill and its generous customers will help us serve thousands of meals to our neighbors who are struggling," said Rhonda Neal, CEO of Bridgeport Rescue Mission. "Every dollar goes directly toward feeding those who need it most, and we cannot thank the Goodwill Team enough for their support."
Media support for this campaign was provided by Connoisseur Media stations WEBE108 and WICC600, helping to raise awareness and encourage community participation in important social causes.
