Goodwill Opens Career Center in Waterbury!

BRIDGEPORT, CT (January 26, 2015) – Goodwill of Western & Northern Connecticut is excited to announce the opening of its brand new Career Center, located inside it’s retail store at 829 Lakewood Road in Waterbury. Goodwill’s Career Center provides free career services for anyone looking to boost their chances of getting hired, including assistance in resume writing, job interview practice and access to job leads. The new location in Waterbury is the organization’s eleventh location, and all of the services offered, including career counseling and workshops, are free to the public.
“Waterbury has the second highest unemployment rate in the state at 10.2 percent, so we felt strongly this was a great location that will benefit the community,” said Vickie Volpano, President and CEO of Goodwill of Western & Northern Connecticut. “Our mission is to help people overcome barriers to employment. We were able to help 1,899 people find jobs last year – that is an average of over five people per day – and we hope to continue that trend with this new location.”
The Waterbury Career Center will have ten computers and two full-time staff members, one with bilingual capability in Spanish-English. The Career Center will be open Mondays through Saturdays. Further details about workshops and other Career Center services can be found HERE.
