For the convenience of local donors, Goodwill of Western and Northern Connecticut has opened a new attended donation center in Monroe on 494 Main Street (Route 25). The new center is in addition to the Goodwill Store on Route 111 and is open Mon. – Sat. from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Donors may drive up to the front of the building where a Goodwill staff member will help them unload gently used clothing and household items and give them a tax receipt.
Goodwill is a non-profit organization that provides employment and support services to the local community. Donations support Goodwill stores. In addition to providing low cost merchandise to people on a tight budget and to those just looking for bargains, these stores provide employment opportunities to people with disabilities and other special needs by hiring and training them to process donations and to work on the sales floor. Revenue generated from the sale of donations goes right back into programs in the local community to help people find jobs and reclaim their independence.
